Producing young sport horses and coaching amateur riders, while chasing my own goals of competing at international level
I am a Canadian dressage rider and young sport horse producer based in the UK.
Having travelled around the world riding for some of the best racing, eventing, and dressage yards, I'm now building my own business in the Cotswolds breaking in and producing quality young horses, and coaching amateur riders.
My own riding goals include one day representing my country at international level, and my biggest dream is to become an Olympic rider. Please follow along to share the journey of a young horse producer with big goals!
Developing horse and rider combinations with a goal-centred approach is a particular interest of mine. My unique background working for and training with some of the world’s top riders has given me a depth of experience and attention to detail that I am able to use to help my clients achieve their biggest goals.
My experience across multiple disciplines allows me to work with a wide variety of horse and rider combinations. Six years of riding trackwork on three different continents has given me a particular interest in developing ex-racehorses for sport, while the skills I have developed producing young horses for top competition riders has given me the technical expertise necessary to prepare amateur riders for their first exposure to competition.
I work closely with internationally-renowned trainers and sports psychologists to ensure that my skills are kept current and focused.
I have had the privilege of working for some truly exceptional riders, including Olympians from five different countries. These riders have held me to the very highest standards in performance and welfare, and also entrusted their young competition horses to me.
I believe that the experience that a horse gains during the breaking in process can set them up for success or failure in life. Instead of being a box to be ticked, it is the foundation upon which all other training is based. The ability to cope calmly under pressure is a skill that is imperative to a sport horse’s future success, and I believe this can and should be taught from day one.
I believe in creating happy athletes; as athletes they need to be disciplined and work under pressure, but as horses they need to be relaxed, happy, and comfortable in their jobs.
